Hello friends,
I know it’s still August and all, but I am prepping for spooky season! Spooky season, or Fall/Autumn as most people call it, is my favourite time of the year. It gets cool and there are crunchy leaves, and of course its the perfect time to read some spooky books!
So, here is a list of some spooky books I want to read this spooky season!
Carmilla by J. Sheridan Le Fanu
This is the classic vampire gothic with lesbian undertones and I mean, I don’t know how I haven’t read it yet. I absolutely need to read this one.
The Black Monday Murders by Johnathan Hickman
I mean, this is a graphic novel series that follows criminal groups, influential businesses, and gangs that are run by vampires and other occult themes. It sounds very dark and very, very interesting.
Meddling Kids by Edgar Cantero
Alright, I grew up loving Scooby-Doo and this is basically the Scooby-Doo gang all grown up with actual supernatural creatures. It follows a group of friends who were amateur sleuths and now that they are all grown up they need to revisit the case that is causing them nightmares.
Alien: Echo by Mira Grant
This is pretty much a space horror. It is about two sisters and one wants to study the flora and fauna of this new planet she and her family has moved to. Then there is some kind of secret that gets exposed that shocks our main character and the alien inhabitants of the planet. It sounds very spooky and scary.
Fledgling by Ocatavia E. Butler
This one is very interesting. It’s about a young girl who has no memory of who she is or where she came from. She soon finds out that she is a genetically modified, 53-year-old vampire. She then needs to discover what happened to her. It sounds very scary and creepy.
The Library At Mount Char by Scott Hawkins
This one is a weird one. There is a woman who was raised, by someone called “Father”, to take care of a mysterious library. Father disappears and his library that holds all his secrets is unprotected. I honestly don’t know a lot about this book and what it’s about and that is a bit exciting.
